Picked up the butter pistachio donut to try per staff's recommendation. It was a bit pricey for a single donut. The donut was very filling as it has pistachio cream filled throughout the donut. The pistachio pieces add good texture to the donut. Overall good donut despite being a bit on the heavy side. The donut shop is very cute and they have a good variety of unique flavors!

Old Ferry Donut at The Source in Buena Park is hands-down my favorite spot for donuts. They offer a wide variety, and every donut I've tried so far has been amazing! This time, we ordered the Butter Pistachio, Boston Cream, and Peanut Butter & Jelly. The standout for me was definitely the Peanut Butter & Jelly--it's like a classic PB&J sandwich but elevated into a delicious donut twist. If you're a PB&J fan, you have to try it! The staff here is incredibly friendly and accommodating, always making the experience even better. They also have some cute merchandise for sale, which is a nice bonus if you're looking for something extra. The inside of the shop is small but cozy, and the bright orange decor makes it super easy to spot. Parking at The Source is free inside the parking structure, which is convenient. If you're in the area and craving donuts, Old Ferry Donut is a must-visit!

I was in the area for D'Festa and saw they had a joint promotion going on with Old Ferry Donut. For $12, you get your choice of donut and a drink (applicable drinks are iced americano, cold brew, apple hibiscus tea, lemon mint, grapefruit black tea, and peach iced tea), plus a D'Festa custom cup sleeve (if you had visited D'Festa that day, Old Ferry Donut will let you choose the member you want for the cup sleeve). The staff confirmed that the peach iced tea and grapefruit black tea are both sweetened and both fairly sweet at that, so I picked the apple hibiscus tea instead. The #1 most popular donut flavor was the butter pistachio, so I chose that one over #2 tiramisu. If you don't really care for the cup sleeve, you're better off ordering the donut and drink separately, as it was $4.75 regularly for the butter pistachio donut and $6 for the apple hibiscus tea, which is $1.25 less than the $12 combo. It was a super hot day (over 100 degrees) so I practically finished the tea as I headed upstairs to grab a snack at the food court. Oh yea, just FYI, there's practically no space inside Old Ferry Donut to dine in or eat your donut, so definitely order multiple with taking it to go in mind or head upstairs. I had the donut when I got home and it was still soft and delicious. I can see why the butter pistachio was the favorite! Appreciate the helpful and friendly staff! One donut is enough for me and truthfully, splitting a donut with a friend is the best way to go. If I come back to try the other flavors, I'd want to come with a group of friends to split it all. Easy, free covered parking in the Source! Yay!

I have returned only 6 months later as I've now tried 95% of their donut offerings. Old Ferry is still my favorite donut place ever because they do not glaze their donuts or douse them in oil so I can enjoy the pillowy soft donut bread without interruption. I am also not the biggest fan of excessive filling and prefer a 60/40 donut to filling ratio, especially when the donut dough is this good! My ranking: 1. Boston cream: custard isn't too egg-yolky rather more vanilla flavored which I am a great fan of and there isn't too much of it 2. Chocolate fudge glaze: Boston cream without the custard filling 3. Creme brulee: love a good crack; more filled than the Boston cream 4. Lemon poppy seed: quite tart yet unique 5. Milk cream: much like a malasada; whipped cream consistency but fluffy rather than smooth perhaps a tad overwhipped? high filling to dough ratio for those who prefer that 6. Raspberry ring: nice tart raspberry glaze but not as unique as the lemon poppy seed 7. Tiramisu: doesn't taste like a tiramisu but I don't mind that; filling's consistency is not as smooth (thinking back, may be the same filling as the milk cream one) 8. Raspberry ball: way too much jam but the jam is fresh (not fake tasting and gelatinous like the average American donut shop) 9. Peanut butter: filled with peanut butter buttercream? does not store well in fridge 10. Butter pistachio: I dislike buttercream. I don't think I like pistachio flavored things either 11. Cake donuts: this may be a me problem bc I'm not the biggest fan of cake donuts but they don't do it any better than other places With that, I've tried basically the entire menu. I will not be buying the cookies and cream or the cream cheese malasadas because I do not like those flavors in desserts. I am debating trying the coconut and the original glaze..
